Nourish Hub are proud to work closely with Hammersmith and Fulham Council (H&F) on many of their impactful initiatives, most recently this year’s launch of Hammersmith and Fulham’s three new support outlets in the borough. In partnership with Action on Disability, Parents Active and Young Hammersmith & Fulham Foundation, three Family Hubs are now welcoming residents at Tudor Rose Community Centre, Steven Wilshire Community Centre and Old Oak Community Centre. Created to offer H&F residents access to existing support services in the borough, the Hubs offer support with physical and mental health support through to parenting, careers and youth services. The Hubs have also created a warm, safe space for people to unite as a community.   

To celebrate the new Family Hubs opening, Helen (Education and Events Coordinator) and Ffion (Hub Manager) delivered cookery experiences food demonstrations at the launch events. Young people created fruit and oat-based energy balls, fruit kebabs with a drizzle of chocolate, and Helen demonstrated a hidden vegetable mac and cheese recipe; a popular recipe we teach in cookery classes at the Nourish Hub. 

Cllr Alex Sanderson, Cabinet Member for Children and Education, announced the Family Hub’s opening, saying “The development of Family Hubs is a key manifesto commitment, making it simpler for families to access a wide range of services to ensure they receive the right help at the right time. 

“Placing Family Hubs at the center of our communities means that we are making the lives of our residents easier by bringing council services to the community, instead of expecting the community to come to us. 

“Our vision is for every child, every young person, every individual and family to be happy, to be healthy and to have the opportunity to thrive, supported by an effective and compassionate community network.” (taken from H&F website) 

Helen Fielding said “The three new family hubs in Hammersmith and Fulham will be key pillars of local support for residents – not only for parents and children but a provision of services including mental health support, smoking cessation and exercise classes. Nourish Hub staff and volunteers loved being present to support the launch events. From interacting with H&F residents, to broadening our network with potential to collaborate further with other services and groups in the area. We look forward to exploring how Nourish Hub can support the Family Hubs moving forward”
