Having worked as a social worker for many years, Anna Anderson, founder of Kindred, recognised the importance of meaningful face-to-face interaction in an increasingly disconnected world. Her vision to create an inclusive community space where everyone felt welcome and human connections could flourish became the foundation of Kindred.

With healthy accessible food and meaningful interaction at the forefront of Kindred’s ethos, it was only a matter of time before Kindred and Nourish Hub became close partners, working towards reducing social isolation in Hammersmith and Fulham.

Anna Anderson, founder of Kindred is a huge supporter of the relationship between Nourish Hub and Kindred, sharing that “7 years ago, when I was dreaming about what Kindred could be, I had this image of these big dinners, where everyone could gather and share food, as a means of meeting new people. For me, this is what community should look like. It took us a while to get to a place where we could put on our free community dinners at Kindred, but in December 2023, we started. We wanted people to be able to come and receive a free meal with no strings attached, but we knew that generosity can be infectious, so we wanted to give them the opportunity to ‘pay it forward’ if they felt moved to. It was really important to us to find a partner charity who was doing amazing work locally, and who were super aligned with our own values. I’m not sure there is anyone who fits the bill better than Nourish Hub. We love telling our guests about them at the dinner, and we’re always in awe at people’s generosity as they leave the event. It’s a testament to Nourish Hubs’ values and important mission, and we’re so proud to partner with them.”

Kindred provides a monthly community supper. This event is open to all and works on a ballot system, where, if selected, you can enjoy a dinner made by some of London’s finest chefs, completely free of charge. As the partner charity to Kindred, there is the option to donate to Nourish Hub. Through these donations Nourish Hub has received over £4,000.

Ffion Hayward, Nourish Hub Manager shared that “The generosity and support Kindred has offered Nourish Hub is fantastic. We’re delighted to be collaborating with an organisation that aligns so closely to our core values and offers opportunities for everyone to find new ways to connect in a disconnected world. We really enjoy all aspects of the work we do together and I’m excited to see what lies ahead for Nourish Hub and Kindred. Thanks to Anna and her team for all that they do to help us to nourish our nation.”

Everyone discovers Nourish Hub for different reasons, but each person that walks through the door brings joy and light into our community. Sophia is one such person. Having met the team at a mental health workshop last year, Sophia felt that Nourish Hub could be a space where she could find support for her own mental health, while learning new skills and feeling that she belonged somewhere important within the community.
Following a fantastic morning in October 2023 celebrating National Poetry Day, Nourish Hub’s Book Club was born. Thanks to contact made by Lucy Anderson, Social Impact Manager at Penguin Random House, Nourish Hub were inspired to start their own book club. The initial response from the community was so positive and inspiring that the call from Penguin couldn’t have been more exciting, or timely.
