Behind the Lens – The Creatives Who Brought Our Cookbook to Life
The Notting Dale Community Cookbook was a project curated by Nourish Hub and supported by the Future Neighbourhood 2030 Programme. The goal was to create a legacy of collaboration in Notting Dale, encourage residents to reduce food waste and improve their diets, and highlight the rich diversity of food culture and people in Notting Dale.
The Notting Dale Community Cookbook includes 24 recipes submitted by residents, community groups, schools and charities. To bring these recipes to life, Geraldine, a Nourish Hub volunteer suggested we get in touch with her daughter Katie and friend Hannah, a super star duo, food stylist and photographer also based in West London. A brief video call became a visit to the Nourish Hub for lunch where Hannah and Katie agreed to generously donated their time and expertise to the project.
The brief was to create images that represent the Nourish Hub and all community organisations while ensuring recipes still looked achievable for the home cooks! The imagery focused on earthy tones and shades of green to represent the FN2030’s goals of climate readiness and recovery, and community greening.
After the community recipes were selected and tested, Helen and Angus spent the day in Hannah’s studio with Hannah and Katie – Helen prepped, Angus cooked, Katie styled and Hannah photographed. Watch the video on our socials for a brief insight into the photography day, @thenourishhub.
A huge thank you to Hannah and Katie without whom our cookbook would not dazzle as brightly. If you would like to learn more about the cookbook, please check out our other blog (insert link). Give Hannah and Katie’s socials and websites a look to see some of their other work, magazine covers, and cookbooks!
