Celebrating Three Years of Nourish Hub!

Birthday Cake in front of 'Welcome Sign'

On a bright and sunny Thursday, 27th February, we marked three incredible years since Nourish Hub was officially opened to the public by our patron, Queen Consort Camilla (who was unfortunately unable to join us on this occasion)! To celebrate, we did things a little differently this year—inviting community partners, donors, and supporters to a special Birthday Breakfast.

The morning celebration gave our Head Chef and volunteers the perfect opportunity to create a stunning breakfast buffet—think vegetable frittata, summer fruit-topped yoghurt and granola, date and sesame energy balls, fruit platters, and fresh juices (generously donated by our wonderful friends and neighbours at Innocent). To top it off, we shared a delicious Clementine, Almond, and Olive Oil birthday cake, beautifully made by our talented volunteer Josh! So many guests commented on the quality, colour, and vibrancy of the food—a perfect showcase of how ‘rescued’ produce is never dull or boring. It’s all about creativity and how you bring it to life! Adding to the atmosphere, our window art became a real talking point, featuring a stunning design by our volunteer Gill Bradley Design, brought to life with the artistic touch of another talented volunteer, Bud.

During the event, we heard from Yvonne Thomson, our CEO and Founder, who began by thanking the funders, supporters, and donors who have made Nourish Hub a reality. She then shared the impact we’ve had over the past three years, including a milestone 115,820 meals served to the community and 569 education, community, and cultural events reaching 10,409 people!

Next, we were inspired by a speech from the Deputy Mayor of Hammersmith & Fulham, who described Nourish Hub as “an exemplar project”—not only in London but across the UK. She shared that both the “Leader and Deputy Leader of the Council are firmly behind the success of Nourish Hub and will continue to support its growth in the future”.

We were also excited to premiere our new Impact and Reflections video, introduced by Ffion, Nourish Hub Manager. Created by volunteers from ITV, this moving video highlights real stories from Nourish Hub users—community lunch attendees, NourishEd cookery school participants, and volunteers—bringing our impact to life beyond the numbers. If you haven’t seen it yet, we highly encourage you to take just three minutes to watch it now!

Throughout the event, we invited guests to share a memory or three words that best describe Nourish Hub. The result? Our Story Wall, now filled with inspiring and heartfelt reflections. If you’re visiting Nourish Hub soon, be sure to add your own!

This celebration wasn’t just about marking three years—it was a chance to thank our funders, community partners, and supporters for their continued belief in our mission. We loved reconnecting with old friends and welcoming new faces, and we look forward to many more years of impact together.

Here’s to another year of nourishing our community!
